What is Fear of Falling (FOF)?
#FearOfFalling is a strong emotional response of fear and anxiety related to falling or losing balance.
It is often associated with previous fall experiences, age-related #balance issues, decline in physical or #cognitive function, and other fall-related factors.
Real Case 👵
This elderly lady accidentally #fell and was sent to the hospital. After examination, she was diagnosed with a #wrist fracture, while the rest of her body was unharmed. She was treated with a cast and discharged home for recovery.
One day, she suddenly became weak and collapsed into a squatting position ❗❗
She was no longer able to walk. Her whole body became extremely sensitive to pain and fearful of touch—even sitting or standing became impossible. She remained bedridden.
At this point, her daughter contacted us to arrange #homephysiotherapy. After assessment, we confirmed that her condition was largely influenced by psychological factors.
Through a series of #physiotherapy sessions and psychological support, she gradually regained confidence in her body. She progressed from being bedridden to walking with a cane 🦯.
⛅️ #YouAreNotAlone
“No matter how strong the fear may be, remember that you are not alone. There are people who support you, and professionals who are ready to help.”

The main causes often include fright or injury from falls, collisions, or accidents, such as a #fracture.
This fear may lead individuals to avoid certain daily activities in order to reduce the risk of falling, and may also be accompanied by #anxiety, tension, and a lack of confidence in their physical abilities.
Excessive fear may even result in #functional decline or loss of mobility.
